Canberra Film Photographer

Why is everyone suddenly in love with film photography?

Is it the film colours and grain that is not really able to be reproduced in a digital photograph? The quality of timelessness?

Is it the nostalgia and romanticism that feels kinda perfect for a wedding day?

All of the above is true, but I’ll also add a photographer’s perspective. Shooting with film is very different to shooting digitally.

When shooting film, I have to choose the moments to capture in the limited number of frames per roll, the moments that have the right quality for film. When shooting film, we slow down and become very intentional. Images are crafted, not just ‘taken’.

We also learn to embrace the unexpected, and have fun with imperfection. All of this magic is baked into the wedding day film images and the effects are often also seen in the digital images taken on the day.

So you want 35mm film photography for your wedding day?

Huzzah!

Here’s how it works. You can choose a film ‘add on’ for your wedding photography booking, and we can shoot just a couple of rolls for a little bit of a taster, or more.

Film images will be a combination of black and white and colour in 35mm film (but occasionally the medium format camera may make an appearance!)

A second photographer is a great idea if you want bonus film images.
